Gratitude on days when you just can't find it.....

Let's see....gratitude on a crappy day, after a crappy day yesterday.  Sometimes gratitude is hard to find and see.   It really takes effort.  So what am I grateful for today?  Not going to lie about this one either.  I'm grateful for a woman named Jennifer.  Jennifer, who is my therapist and one of the best people I know.  She is wonderful and I couldn't do or take my life right now and this past year without her.  She listens to me, is impartial and is smart.  And, she's empathetic, sympathetic and compassionate.  I adore her!   And I am so incredibly thankful for her.

And I'm thankful for our wonderful healthcare/insurance that allows me to go and see her 2 times per month at a low copay.  Before you get all "see the government is doing a good thing with this whole healthcare debacle", let me say that the insurance we have, we pay for completely out of  our own pocket because Frank's work insurance is CRAP!  We bought it independently from his work insurance.  So now we pay more for our wonderful insurance every month than we do for our HOUSE!  Yep, you read that right!  I work to pay for our insurance and it costs more than my home.  But, it's on days like today, I'm thankful for the jobs that I and Frank have to be able to pay for that good insurance. Is it too expensive?  YES!  To say that healthcare industry needs an overhaul is an understatement!  But, I'm SO not getting into that debate!

I'm just going to say that today, after yesterdays craptacular day and todays craptacular day part 2, I am thankful for my therapist Jennifer, the mental healthcare professionals/industry, good drugs to keep me sane amongst the crazy and my good insurance.  Crappy days deserve someone wonderful in your corner like Jennifer and a little blue pill to wash it all away at bedtime.  Thank you Tylenol PM and Cymbalta and thank you Jennifer!

Until next time....hopefully in a better place....

Attitude of Gratitude

Since this is the month of Thanksgiving and feeling thankful for what's around us; I am going to try and write my blog focusing on an attitude of gratitude.  I'm hoping to share with you what I makes me happy and what I'm thankful for.  The big and the small, and everything in between!

So the month technically started on Friday and today is already the 4th.  Over the weekend I thought about my "thankfuls" and I couldn't stop think about who/what my first thankful would be.   And this person happens to be celebrating a birthday today!  And I'm ever so thankful that he was born and brought into my life!

Yep, my hubby.  He's who I am SO incredibly thankful for and how I wanted to start these postings.

Today I celebrate him!  And the amazing man he is and the wonderful husband/father he is too!  Again, I am so thankful for him and all that he does for me and us.  We've been through so much together and through thick and thin, for better or worse, in sickness and in health, and all the rest, we've been together.  And been there for each other. And our love has just continued to grow stronger and deeper with each passing day.  I love him more and more every day, too!
Two weeks ago, we celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary!   I love our love story!  Happily ever after, here we come! :)  We spent the weekend together as a family and went out on a much-needed date night together too.  I love just hanging out with him and doing little things like run errands and have dinner.  Nothing big or overdone.  It's just us.  Me and my love.  Together forever!
So he's my "thankful for" today and the first few days of this brand new month.  And I wish for him the happiest of birthdays and the best of everything for this year ahead!  Whatever happens we'll be together through it all!

We're thankful for you everyday!  And Love you SO much!!

Here's to a month of Thanksgivings!  Happy November!

Until next with a heart full of love and gratitude....and wishing the best husband in the world a very Happy Birthday!

Oh, Oh October! A fun and beautiful month in photos....

Oh, glorious, beautiful month!   You came and went much too quickly!  So much happened!   It was BUSY!  We had Alesha's bridal shower, the bachelor/bachelorette party, our anniversary (14 years!!), anniversary dinner/date,  and of course Halloween!   Whew!  What a month! :)  I did get sick with a nasty virus last week that post-poned our anniversary dinner/date, but we were able to make it up this past weekend.  And of course I've worked, worked and worked some more!  But the pictures represent the fun times we had this month!  Sorry no pics from our yummy and fun dinner date to Brother Sebastian's in Omaha.  But there is a picture of my fabulous anniversary present from Frank!  The best hubby in the world! :)

So here are some photos from the month for your viewing pleasure...

So that's October in a massive photo attack! :)  It was a busy month, but a good one.  Always my favorite month of the year!  I'm looking forward to November with Alesha's wedding coming up, the Lorie Line concert, Thanksgiving, and the Holidays beginning!  Good times ahead!  I hope you enjoyed my October photo barrage!  Hope yours was good too.  Cheers to November!   Going to try and start (and stay) in this month with an attitude of gratitude.  Been thinking about that the past couple of days into this new month.  Tomorrow I'll catch up on "thanksgivings" for the first 3 days of the month.

And, I DO have a picture from our anniversary!!  I have a picture of what the BEST husband in the world got me for a gift!!!  Drumroll please.......

Wedding Countdown & Happenings Continue....

Today I was in wedding countdown and errand mode!  I had my first spray tan today so I'm not farmer/baseball mom tan for the wedding!  NOT a good look with my strapless dress!  And I'm NOT an extra on Jersey Shore either so.....YAY!  I've never gotten any kind of spray tan before so I was more than a little nervous!  But, it went great.  I have 2 more sessions and will be all tan and gorgeous for the wedding!  Less than a month now!!

Tomorrow I'm scheduling my hair trial with Kayla here in town so I'll know how to have my hair done on the day of the wedding.  WIth it shorter than I would like, (STILL lamenting the big May cut!!), I have to do a trial to see if we need to use the extensions I bought in August.  So that will take place in the next week or so.

YIKES!  I know this will not happen!  Kayla is amazing!!   But this is too funny! :)

I went to Nobbies and got the last few supplies for the bachelor/bachelorette party on Saturday night.  Still need to finalize my appetizers and go to the store.  Tomorrow I'm heading to Julie's (another bridesmaid) to hang out while she and Sheila (another bridesmaid) make jello shots for the party!  FUN!  Jello scares me, so I will NOT be helping!   Yes, I can make a soufflé, but jello freaking scares me to make!  Go figure.

I practiced my song with Hilary the pianist yesterday.  Funny thing...I babysat her when I was in high school!  It went great but I'm still nervous to sing at the wedding.  I always get nervous though to sing!  And it's been awhile since I've sung in public soooo.....that's weighing on me too!   It'll all be good.  I have faith!

Now I need to continue working on my MOH speech.  I think I'm more nervous about that than singing!  I do have ideas and thoughts.  Just need to get them all organized.  We'll see how that goes!  Ring, ring....who's there?  Procrastination!  Welcome back old friend!

So once the party is over on Saturday, my matron of honor duties and tasks are pretty much done until the day before with the decorating/rehearsal and then the big day!   Just keep "checking off" the tasks and duties!  It's getting closer!  Can't believe that 2 weeks after the wedding it will be Thanksgiving!!  Holy cow!  Then Christmas!  Whoooo Hoooo!

So that's what I'm up to....along with teaching and dissertation.  Ever the multi-tasker!

Until next time....all tan and tropical....

Currently I Am....

Looking forward to:  Of course, Alesha's wedding!  After the shower yesterday, and how much fun the bridesmaids have together, the wedding is going to be F.U.N!!!   I'm also looking forward to the Bachelorette/Bachelor party this weekend!  Again....gonna be FUN! :)   But, I'm also looking forward to the upcoming Holidays!!  Love this time of year!

Wishing for:  More time to myself.  It's been a busy summer and beginning of the fall.  I wish I had time to do what I want to do.  I am also wishing for more energy to start my exercising again.  Time to myself ties into that too.  But, I want to get back in shape because it makes me feel so good.  Hopefully my mind, heart and body catch up with each other and get on the same page soon, too.
Listening to:   Steve Hall, Timeless Love.  We listened to this at the shower and I listened to it before the shower.  A little romantic mood music!

And of course, I listen to the music on my iPhone whenever I'm in the car and that's just too much to share!  And it's VERY eclectic! :)

Reading:  Pearl Girls and Jesus Calling.  They are amazing books!  So inspiring and uplifting!

Seriously, Best Books!  Read Them!

Creating:  I did lots of creating and being crafty this weekend with the shower!  With my mom's help, we had that place looking fabulous and didn't spend a ton of money!  I'm a party-planner extraordinare!
Oh, and yep....STILL creating the dissertation and trying to achieve the elusive PhD!
Packing for:  Nothing.  Wish we were packing for a little anniversary get-away, but with this wedding and not teaching as much as in the past....there's not a lot of extra funds to throw around.  Maybe we can take a little trip for my 40th birthday in February!  Hint, Hint....Honey!! ;)
Enjoying:  Fall.  I love this season and this time of year!  Love everything about it!

Trying to:  Persevere and continue writing this dissertation and PhD.  It's sucking the ever-loving life out of me.  It really is!  God help me!
Grateful for:  My family and friends who are and have been there for me.  My friends know who they are!  Obviously my family knows who they are too!  :)  I'm absolutely grateful for my husband and son.  They bless my life in so many ways!

Wearing:  On the days I teach....dress clothes.  When I'm at home....track pants and t-shirts.  My staple workday attire!  I'll be switching to long sleeve T's and sweatshirts soon!  Right now I have my black hoodie that I take on and off whether I'm hot or cold.

Saving for:
Well, nothing major right now.  Spending money on wedding-related things right now, which is fine.  Going to start saving for Christmas presents soon!  It's almost upon us! :)
Watching:  Right now I'm watching the fall show premiers and the new fall shows.  But, my favorite is "The Goldbergs!"  Flash back to all things 80's!!   Such a funny, funny show!   I love it!

Loving:  My Nespresso machine!  Seriously, it is true, true L.O.V.E!!   And I'm loving my flavor shipment that came last week from Torani!  I'm barista in my own home!  Yay!  Pumpkin Spice, Irish Cream, Salted Caramel, Chocolate Mint, Butterscotch!  The gangs all here!!  YUMMMM!!!!   It was an expense, but that beautiful machine is paying off in BIG ways!  I highly recommend it for the Starbucks lovers out there!

I mean LOOK at ALL of those flavors!  Um, Yes, Please!!!  Happy, Happy Me!

Until Next Time....Fabulously Caffeinated and Deliciously Flavored....

Thank you just isn't enough at times.....

Today was my sister Alesha's bridal shower.  It was beautiful and fun!  She has a great group of bridesmaids and I love everyone of them!!  I'm the Matron of Honor and proud to be that for her.   She truly has a stone-cold pack of weirdos and I LOVE it!   We had a great day!!

Well, today I couldn't have done or pulled off this shower without the help of these ladies!   And my mom!  She's amazing!!!!  And I absolutely LOVE her and THANK HER from the bottom of my heart for helping me to make it absolutely fabulous and beautiful!!

I will hopefully have some pictures to share soon from today and when I'm not exhausted, I will share pictures of how lovely it looked all decorated!

But for now, I just wanted to say, Thank You!  Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!  To all of the people who helped to make this day special for Alesha.  And it was.  So yes, sometimes a mere Thank You just doesn't seem like enough.  But, that's what I am!  Thankful and Grateful!  For the love, support and generosity of these friends and my mom.   I couldn't have done it right now in my life without them!  I wish I could send them all a bouquet of Thank You flowers, but alas I cannot.  So I hope this simple gesture will suffice!

Much Love to you Beautiful Ladies!

Until Next Time....with a Thankful Heart....

Cheer, Cheer for Old Woodbine High!

Yep, that's the start of my alma mater's school fight song!   What does that mean?  It means that this weekend was Woodbine Homecoming!  Well, technically Friday (yesterday) was Woodbine's homecoming.  The school has a pep rally, homecoming court, king and queen.  And there's a parade!  The parade starts with the high school marching band and each class in junior high and high school has a float.  Then the little kids K-6 have themes and walk in the parade.  It's so fun to see!  Especially seeing my little man doing what I did when I was his age at the very same school on the very same streets!  Woodbine Homecoming always makes me so nostalgic!  There was never a year that I wasn't in the parade in some way.  In high school I was in the band as a flag twirler and then as a football cheerleader.  I see all of it and it just makes me smile and silently reminisce.  Nostalgia floating all around!

Sometimes it's good to just sit back and let the memories flow and take over.  It's a nice break from the crazy of every day.  Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.  Makes your heart smile.

Here's a Stroll Down Memory Lane!  WHS Style! :)

Our Senior Float!  Yep, We Won!!
Homecoming 1992 (Senior Year) !  Yep, I was a cheerleader! :)

It doesn't get any better than riding in the back of a pickup with a short, short skirt on!  And it was COLD that day!  But it was Homecoming!  So ALL was GOOD!!! :)

Last year we celebrated our 20 year reunion from WHS!  It was a very, very, VERY good time!  We were always a great class!  Very close and lots of fun!  And that night the fun continued and we showed our Tiger Spirit and Pride once again!  See for yourself!
